California BBQ has its roots in the mid-19th century when family and friends gathered for great food after a long day of branding calves and working livestock. The present Santa Maria style barbecue grew out of this tradition. BBQ meat, top block sirloin or tri tip (bottom sirloin triangular shaped), is trimmed of excess fat, rolled in a mixture of kosher salt, pepper and garlic just prior to grilling. It is then cooked over red oak coals giving the meat a hearty, smoked flavor. This sumptuous bar-b-que feast of tri-tip, ribs, chicken, top sirloin, with fresh salsa, Pinquito beans, grilled sourdough bread, and mixed green salad has been called by Sunset Magazine, the "best barbecue in the world". People outside of California call it "grilling"; to them bbq means meats slow-cooked for 8 to 12 hours or more in a "smoker". Brian's Artisan Bread Co in Atascadero, CA, makes the breads we use for all events we cater. Order fresh sourdough bread and bread bowls (soups and dips) shipped to your door.

You may wish to provide serving people, tables, chairs, tents, drinks, trash disposal, and/or other items for your event - we do not supply these items. Providing us access to electrical outlets (coffee pots, warmers, etc.) and fresh water at your location is a big plus.

Our prices are subject to change without prior notice. Given the ever-increasing costs of foods, transportation and labor we reserve the right to increase our prices at any time. However, once you have reserved a date with your Menu items and people count, we guarantee to keep prices as of that date.
